Six people escaped unharmed after a house fire on Yoder Hill Road early Sunday morning.

According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 1:30 a.m. along with the Branchport and Keuka Park fire departments for a report of a structure fire. When crews arrived, flames had spread from the home’s deck to the east side of the house.

Firefighters from Penn Yan, Potter, Benton, and Bellona provided mutual aid, helping bring the blaze under control before it could spread to nearby buildings.

The Yates County Fire Investigation Team determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
