Ground Broken for New Yates Community Center in Penn Yan

Community leaders and officials participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Yates Community Center in Penn Yan, Finger Lakes region.

After years of planning and fundraising, the new Yates Community Center project is officially underway. Ground was broken Tuesday for the 35,000-square-foot multi-use facility on North Main Street in Penn Yan, next to the Yates Fitness Center.

The center will feature multi-purpose flooring, designated recreation areas, a community room, and a walking track, allowing for year-round programs and events.

Speakers at the ceremony included Yates County Chamber of Commerce President Jessica Bacher, Yates Cultural and Recreational Resources, Inc. Board President Dr. Suzamie Farnsworth, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, State Senator Tom O’Mara, and LeChase Construction Vice Chairman William Mack.  A representative from Rep. Claudia Tenney’s office was also on hand and passed along congratulations to all involved.

Construction is estimated for completion by December 2026
