A former Yates County Administrator has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the County Legislature. Sarah Purdy was the unanimous choice by lawmakers in a vote at Thursday’s Legislature’s year-end meeting to fill the seat vacated by Dr. Timothy Cutler. Before the vote, legislator Dan Banach explained why he thought Purdy was the best choice for the remainder of Dr. Cutler’s term.

Purdy left Yates County in 2015 after 21 years as its County Administrator to become city manager of Ogdensburg in St. Lawrence County.

Dr. Cutler announced last month that he would be resigning. He represented the towns of Italy, Middlesex, and Jerusalem since 2017. Purdy will fill out the remaining year of Dr. Cutler’s term.
