Firefighters work to extinguish a house fire in the Village of Bath amidst heavy smoke and snowy conditions.

What caused a Thursday morning house fire in the village of Bath is under investigation. When the first units arrived on the scene at the State Route 415 location, black smoke was seen coming from both ends of the structure. Within 12 minutes the fire was out and under control. Firefighters remained on scene for two-and-a-half hours before turning it over to investigators.

Mutual aid from Bradford, Hammondsport, Painted Post, Savona, Kanona, Wayne, Bath VA Fire, Steuben County Investigations Team, and Bath Volunteer Ambulance was called to the scene but thanks to the quick attack on the fire, responding units were turned away and went back in service with the thanks of the Bath Fire Chief
