A Yates County woman will be sentenced in March after admitting in court to having a role in the death of her five-month-old baby.

The body of Samantha Crane’s baby was found unresponsive in a Dundee home last March 20th. The baby was rushed to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital and died a short time after arrival. No other details were released.

In an unrelated criminal investigation, Crane was arrested in November for providing false information to the Department of Social Services which resulted in her receiving benefits she was not entitled to.

In Yates County Court, Crane pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, welfare fraud, grand larceny, and offering a false instrument for filing.
