A farm accident involving a tractor in Yates County claimed the life of a Dundee man on Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded to an address on State Route 14A in the town of Starkey at around 5 o’clock for a tractor rollover with its operator unresponsive on the ground. 74-year-old Mark Collins was taken to Schuyler Hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.

The investigation revealed Collins was attempting to navigate around a culvert and backed up too close to the edge, which caused the tractor to flip over and come to rest in a creek.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Dundee Fire Department, Yates County Ambulance, and Yates County Office of Emergency Management.
