Driver Airlifted to Strong Following Yates County Accident

One of the drivers involved in a two-car accident at the intersection of Friend and Italy Valley roads in Potter was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for her injuries.

According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, 82-year-old Irene Jamieson, of Massena, was driving east on Italy Valley Road when she allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound car on Friend Road. Jamieson was taken to Rochester by Mercy Flight and a 49-year-old passenger, also from Massena, was taken to Thompson Hospital for their injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, Peter Stewart, of Branchport, was not injured.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
