The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of intermittent lane reductions on the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Norfolk Southern Railway’s Southern Tier Line in the City of Corning beginning Monday. Eastbound and westbound passing lanes just west of Exit 48 (State Route 352) on the “Icicle Bridge” will be impacted, due to work along the shoulders and median. The work is anticipated to last through June.

Additional nighttime repair work will occur over four weekends in July and August.

Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
