Police are investigating a one-car accident that happened Wednesday night in Yates County.

James Newell, of Middlesex, was driving west on North Vine Valley Road at around 6 o’clock when it was believed he failed to negotiate a left-hand turn onto Dinehart Cross Road. The vehicle then left the road on the southwest corner, before it struck a road sign and traveled across Dinehart Cross, and came to rest in a field.

Newell was taken to the hospital by Middlesex Ambulance for an evaluation.
