The Gorge Trail at Buttermilk Falls State Park will be closed on weekdays beginning Tuesday to allow for major repairs and upgrades.

According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, crews will be installing several new stone staircases and repairing existing stone walls, steps, and other trail features. The work will be carried out by State Parks trails and masonry staff.

The closure will apply Monday through Friday, but the trail will reopen on weekends. Visitors may encounter minor reroutes or detours on Saturdays and Sundays, which will be clearly marked.

Officials remind the public that the Gorge Trail will close for the season once freezing temperatures arrive and ice begins forming on the trail and gorge walls.

Updates on closures and park conditions will be available on parks.ny.gov
