A 19-year-old bicyclist was killed Monday morning in a crash with a Town of Reading highway vehicle.

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 8:57 a.m. at the intersection of County Route 29 and Spencer Road. Investigators determined that Emily Hoover failed to stop at a stop sign on Spencer Road and rode into the side of the oncoming highway vehicle.

Hoover was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Watkins Glen Fire Department, Schuyler Ambulance, the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, and the State’s commercial vehicle enforcement team.
