Two Keuka Softball Players Named All-Empire 8

The Keuka College Softball team had a pair of student-athletes named to the All-Empire 8 Conference on Tuesday morning.

Hailey Jasinski (Buffalo, N.Y. / North Collins) earned all-conference honors for the third time in her career. The junior was named the Second Team Shortstop this season. Senior Olivia Flynn (Williamson, N.Y. / Williamson) earned all-conference recognition for the second time, being named a Third Team Pitcher.

Jasinski posted one of the best offensive seasons in program history. She finished with a career-high .463 batting average and 44 total hits. Her batting average ranks fourth in a single season in program history, while her hit total ranks fifth. Half of her hits went for extra bases, including 10 doubles, four triples, and eight home runs. Her eight home runs are the second-most in a season in program history and moved her into a tie for third on the program’s career home run list with 10. It marks the second time Jasinski has earned second-team honors after being selected to the third team last season.

Flynn was a leader for the Green and Gold both in the circle and at the plate. Her work as a pitcher earned her third-team recognition from the conference. Flynn pitched a team-high and career-high 101.2 innings during her senior season and struck out a career-best 76 batters, one shy of the program’s top 10 for a single season. Over her career, Flynn appeared as a pitcher more than anyone else in program history. She finished ranked third in career innings pitched and fifth in career strikeouts.

Flynn previously earned all-conference honors as a utility player for her contributions both as a batter and pitcher. Although it did not factor into this season’s selection, Flynn also hit .365 with 22 runs scored, second-best on the team. She concluded her career fifth in program history with 134 total hits and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in doubles with 38.

Also announced Tuesday, Flynn was one of 12 student-athletes honored by the conference on the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team.

From the conference release: “This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they ‘compete with honor and integrity’ and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.”
