Bath Woman Arrested for Felony Criminal Contempt

A Bath woman was arrested following an alleged order of protection violation at a local park.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, officers arrested 34-year-old Amanda Smith of Bath on June 4 at approximately 8:50 p.m. Smith was allegedly observed sitting on a bench in Pulteney Square Park next to an individual who holds a full stay-away order of protection against her.

Police noted that Smith had a prior conviction for Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. As a result of the violation and prior record, she was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, which is a Class E felony.

Smith was processed on the felony charge and transported to the Steuben County Jail, where she was later released following her arraignment.

 

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
