New York State Police in Painted Post arrested a Corning man following an investigation into a reported menacing incident in the town of Lindley.

On June 2nd, troopers responded to River Road for a report of a dispute involving a weapon. An investigation determined that a verbal altercation occurred between family members. During the incident, the suspect allegedly displayed a hammer and threatened the victim, causing the victim to fear physical injury. Troopers recovered a metal hammer from the property and secured it as evidence.

As a result of the investigation, Calyx Estep, 28, was arrested and charged with second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction, a class D felony.

Estep was transported to the Painted Post barracks for processing before being taken to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
