Will Seneca County impose a room tax on tourists renting rooms? Seneca County Supervisors Chair Michael Enslow says the proposal is heading to Albany for the state government to vote on.

He adds the tax will target vacationers, not regular renters, saying “what that should do is bring in additional revenue from people that come from outside of town that rent places here, vacation places.”

The county hopes to impose a 2% room tax on top of the state’s 3% tax with the hope of reinvesting the money into infrastructure to increase tourism.
