Wayne County is looking to prohibit marijuana use.

Citing concerns over secondhand smoke and the desire to maintain a toxin-free environment for the public, the County Board of Supervisors is looking to extend the current ban on smoking and vaping in county-owned buildings and vehicles.

The penalty for using pot would be $200 for the first offense and $1,000 for any additional offenses.

A public hearing on the new law is scheduled for the Board of Supervisor’s October 17th meeting.
