Kathy Wachtman, a justice in the Wolcott Village Court and the Huron Town Court, has resigned while under investigation by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

The investigation focused on Wachtman’s actions in handling an Order of Protection.  Wachtman was accused of issuing the Order in a case pending before her co-judge, without providing notice to the defendant. It’s also believed she amended the Order, adding an additional protected party and misdating it to falsely suggest it had been executed and served five days earlier.

Wachtman has resigned from both judicial roles and has agreed never to seek or accept judicial office in the future. The commission’s investigation highlights concerns about proper judicial procedure and accountability within local courts.
