A packed crowd turned out for Monday night’s Victor Town Board meeting, where residents expressed concern over the possible dissolution of the Fishers Fire District.

The meeting followed a recent vote by the district’s Board of Fire Commissioners to move forward with plans to dissolve the district, which has been facing ongoing financial struggles. The Fishers Fire District spans 26 square miles, covering key areas including Eastview Mall and part of the New York State Thruway.

Many residents raised concerns about the potential impact on emergency response times if the Victor Fire Department assumes coverage. Last year alone, the Fishers Fire District responded to over 1,300 calls for service, including fires, crashes, and medical emergencies.

There will be a public hearing on July 16, with the district possibly dissolving by the end of August.
