Teen Admits to Selling Fentanyl to HWS Student Who Fatally Overdosed

The teen accused of selling the drugs that led to the death of a Hobart and William Smith student has pleaded guilty.

18-year-old Shannon Praylor, Junior admitted to giving 19-year-old Paige Gibbons, of Pittsford, fentanyl at a party in Penfield in November of 2022. Gibbons believed it was Percocet. A friend of Gibbons also took a counterfeit pill that contained fentanyl without her knowledge supplied by Praylor and overdosed but survived.

Praylor pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, assault, and possession and sale of a controlled substance charges.

Praylor will be sentenced in October.
