Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies report that a Swain man died Thursday after being trapped between a snowplow and a fence in the Town of Richmond.

Authorities say 60-year-old Michael Seager was assisting with placing a snowplow onto a pickup truck at 4690 White Road when the vehicle operator’s foot slipped off the brake, causing the truck to roll and trap Seager against a fence post.

Deputies arrived on scene and, with the help of another individual using a tractor, worked to free Seager. Richmond Fire Department and Richmond Ambulance also assisted in the rescue. Seager was transported to FF Thompson Hospital, where life-saving measures were attempted, but he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
