The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving fraudulent donation requests for the Ovid Fire Department.

Officials say individuals are being contacted by phone or email and asked to donate money. These requests are not legitimate.  The Ovid Fire Department does not solicit donations by phone or email. Donations are only accepted during official fundraising events or by mail directly to the department.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call is urged to save the number and report it by calling 911.
