Volunteers are needed to help monitor the health of Seneca Lake.

The Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association is seeking volunteers to monitor precipitation and report Harmful Algal Blooms on the lake.

Those monitoring for HABs will cover 60 miles of shoreline and submit reports via a phone app when a bloom is detected. The association monitors for HABs from August to October.

Those who live in the Seneca Lake Watershed can install gauges on their property to measure and report precipitation levels.

More information the HAB program can be found here.
