A sanitary manhole cover, like this one, represents the vital infrastructure receiving state funding for improvements in Finger Lakes communities.

The Town of Romulus will receive over half a million dollars for a water infrastructure project.

The funding comes in the form of $535,477 in interest-free financing and $178,483 in grant funding from the Environmental Facilities Corporation that was announced on Thursday by the state.

The monies will be used to design and construct sanitary sewer inflow and infiltration improvements in the sewer district serving the Hamlet of Romulus.

Environmental Facilities Corporation President & CEO Maureen A. Coleman said, “Thanks to Governor Hochul’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure, critical environmental and public health improvements are being undertaken and benefiting communities from the Town of Chautauqua to New York City. By providing affordable funding, EFC empowers communities large and small to move forward with necessary environmental projects — without overburdening their ratepayers or taking on crippling debt.”
