The resignation of Macedon Police Chief Fabian Rivera was accepted by the Macedon Town Board during a special meeting Tuesday night.  Sgt. Adam Hust was appointed as the department’s officer-in-charge.

Rivera was arrested Monday by his own department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on DWI charges after being involved in a property damage accident with his patrol car in Gananda. The sheriff’s office said Rivera’s Blood Alcohol Content came back more than three times the legal limit of 0.25.

It was almost one year ago when Rivera went on voluntary unpaid leave following an incident on December 10th at a Macedon restaurant. Rivera was said to be in a highly intoxicated state and fell over several times, resulting in a cut to his face. At the time, Rivera said he was suffering from PTSD. Rivera returned to the job in February.
