Report: Wayne County DA To Retire By End of the Year

Wayne County will have a new district attorney in 2024.

Mike Calarco told the Finger Lakes Times he plans to retire by the end of the year and will appoint First Assistant DA Christine Callanan as acting district attorney.

After his initial election victory in 2017, Calarco was re-elected in 2021 after running unopposed. He has two years left on his latest term. Calarco cited wanting to spend more time with his wife after turning 70 this year as his reason for stepping down.
