The state’s largest landfill is seeking a permit renewal AND expansion in the Finger Lakes.

The Finger Lakes Times reports Seneca Meadows Inc. has applied to the state to renew its operating permit and expand its landfill by 47 acres. The current permit expires December 31, the same day the landfill is projected to reach capacity. If approved, the new permit would extend operations through 2040.

DEC is reviewing the application and a revised Environmental Impact Statement. Once the review is complete, a public comment period and potential hearing will be scheduled.
