Tonight, a public forum will be held to address concerns over proposed federal budget changes and their potential impact on Social Security.

The meeting, organized by the Geneva City Democratic Committee, will take place from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Smith Opera House in Geneva. Organizers say the meeting is non-partisan and intended to foster civil, respectful discussion.

The meeting follows passage of the “Big Beautiful Bill” by the GOP-controlled House of Representatives, raising public concern about threats to critical programs like Social Security. The bill is now under consideration in the U.S. Senate.

Staff representatives from Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are expected to attend.
