The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a Phelps woman hospitalized this morning.

Deputies say the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at State Route 96 and Hayes Road in Phelps. A dump truck driven by 44-year-old Ross Buisch of Clifton Springs was stopped in the eastbound lane, waiting to turn into Heidelberg Materials, when it was rear-ended by a Honda Civic driven by 41-year-old Mary Boughton of Phelps.

Boughton had to be extricated from her car by Oaks Corners and Phelps firefighters. She was flown by LifeNet personnel aboard a Phelps Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
