Passenger Airlifted After Sunday Crash in Hopewell

A passenger was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon following a two-car crash in Ontario County.

Deputies said the crash happened when Joan Metheny, who was traveling west in a 2011 Kia on State Route 488, failed to yield at a stop sign and struck a 2018 Jeep vehicle driven by David Gedney of Williamson, who was headed south on State Route 21.

A passenger in Metheny’s car suffered a leg injury and was flown to Strong for treatment. Metheny was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital for evaluation.

Deputies ticketed Metheny for failure to yield at a stop sign.
