Ovid Mayor: Finger Lakes Response to Fire is “Overwhelming”

Tables overflow with donated clothes, toys, and household items for Ovid fire victims in a community room.
Donated clothes, toys, and household items fill a room, collected to assist Ovid fire victims in the Finger Lakes region.

So far the response from the Finger Lakes to those impacted by last week’s fire in Ovid that destroyed a half-dozen businesses and displaced about two dozen residents from their apartments has been overwhelming. Speaking on behalf of his community, Ovid Mayor Aron Roison said they are grateful.

Roison noted it is important to remember the community will still need help in the weeks and months ahead.

Roison is encouraging those who want to help and are able to do so financially, to reach out to the United Way of Seneca County and Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes and donate to the Ovid recovery.
