Ontario County will hold a public presentation of its updated Local Solid Waste Management Plan during the County Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday.  The meeting will take place at 74 Ontario Street in Canandaigua, and residents, businesses, and institutions are invited to attend and provide feedback.

The plan, known as the LSWMP, outlines strategies for managing the county’s solid waste now and into the future. The current plan, adopted in 2014, sets 16 goals for waste reduction, recycling, and disposal. Ontario County is currently operating under a two-year extension while it updates the plan.

With the county’s municipal landfill scheduled to close in 2029, officials say the updated plan is crucial for guiding sustainable local strategies that reduce, reuse, recycle, and responsibly dispose of waste.

Residents unable to attend Thursday’s 6:30 p.m. meeting can view the draft and submit comments online through the county’s website.
