The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into former Geneva Police Officer Michael Tapscott, who was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly selling a prescription form of Adderall to another person while on duty. Tapscott resigned from his position following the arrest.

As officials emphasized during a press conference following Tapscott’s, the investigation remains active and ongoing.

“These are serious allegations, and we understand the public’s concern about the scope of the potential criminal behavior involved,” Sheriff David Cirencione said in a statement released on Friday.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to a thorough and impartial investigation, stressing that maintaining the integrity of the process is their top priority. They also expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation of Geneva Police Chief Ron Eveland.

The Sheriff’s Office said additional information will be released as appropriate to preserve the integrity of the case.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to contact Lt. Christopher Drake at or submit a tip through the Sheriff’s mobile app, OntarioSheriffNY.
