Casella Waste Services has named Scott Holmes as the new manager of the Ontario County Landfill on Routes 5 and 20. He takes over from Brian Sanders, who left last month for a job in the Midwest.
The Finger Lakes Times reports Holmes previously managed Casella’s Clinton County Landfill and spent more than 20 years with Advanced Disposal in Michigan.
In December, the county Board of Supervisors voted 20-1 to close the landfill by Dec. 31, 2028, the date the current contract with Casella and the state operating permit expires, and when the facility is expected to reach capacity. The county is now weighing options for handling solid waste after closure.
