The Ontario County Motor Vehicle Bureau, located at 20 Ontario Street in Canandaigua, will be closed to the public on several upcoming dates to allow staff to train on a new software system. The temporary closures are part of a transition to upgraded technology designed to enhance efficiency, customer service, and the security of motor vehicle transactions.

“The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is implementing an upgraded software system for Motor Vehicle operations to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, speed up transaction processing, and enhance overall service to our residents,” said Ontario County Clerk Jean Chrisman.

Closure Schedule:

  • Wednesday, November 19 – Closed all day
  • Wednesday, December 10 – Closed 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 7 – Closed 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 21 – Closed 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 11 – Closed 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“These scheduled closures are part of a phased training initiative designed to prepare staff for the upcoming software upgrade. By providing uninterrupted training time, the Bureau aims to deliver a more efficient and streamlined experience for customers once the new system is implemented,” Chrisman added.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, use online DMV services, or visit a neighboring county DMV office for immediate assistance.
