One Killed in Newark Motorcycle Crash

One person was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Newark on Thursday.

According to the Newark Police Department, the incident happened around 4:44p in the area of 427 West Union Street.

A preliminary investigation found the driver of the motorcycle had driven onto the sidewalk and was attempting to reenter the roadway. This was when the driver lost control, throwing the female passenger off the bike before crashing.

The passenger was taken to Newark Wayne Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
