The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has added a new speed and message trailer to its traffic safety efforts, thanks to a grant from the New York State Healthy Neighborhoods Program. The trailer, provided at no cost to taxpayers, will be used to deter speeding and dangerous driving in high-risk areas and can also display public messages during events or emergencies.

The trailer is expected to be a valuable tool in reducing traffic-related hazards and has already been deployed in multiple community locations.

“This new speed trailer allows us to focus on areas where speeding is a concern,” Sheriff Tim Thompson said. “While our deputies work hard to maintain traffic safety, we can’t be everywhere at once. This trailer helps us target problem areas effectively.”

The trailer was made possible through a collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office, the Seneca County Public Health Department, and the Seneca County Planning & Community Development Department.
