A motorcycle crash on October 5 left one man seriously injured in the Town of Covert.

Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies say the accident occurred around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Route 89 and Frontenac Road. A 2025 Subaru, driven by 52-year-old Jason Sherman of Arcata, California, was turning left onto Frontenac Road when it failed to yield to a southbound 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 39-year-old Jason Titus of Apalachin. The motorcycle struck the front of the Subaru.

Titus suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Upstate Medical Hospital. Sherman and the Subaru’s front-seat passenger, 47-year-old H-C Fisher White of Queens, New York, were not injured.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and removed by tow trucks, and Route 89 was temporarily closed while Trumansburg Fire and other responders managed traffic.

Sherman, who had a suspended California driver’s license and no valid New York license, was charged with failing to yield and operating without a license.

The investigation involved the Seneca County Sheriff’s accident reconstruction team, Trumansburg Fire, EMS, and Life Net.
