Jeff Harloff, who led Ontario County’s Emergency Management efforts for nearly 30 years, has passed away. The news was shared on Wednesday by the Canandaigua Emergency Squad on Facebook.

Harloff began his public service career early, joining the Ionia Fire Department in 1982—a department founded by his grandfather—becoming the third generation in his family to serve. He graduated from Bloomfield High School the following year.

In 1994, Harloff was appointed Ontario County’s full-time EMS Coordinator and went on to serve as director of the Emergency Management Office until his retirement in 2023.

Details on memorial services have not yet been announced.
