Jockey Jackie Davis is recovering from serious injuries following a devastating accident during the fifth race at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington on June 1.

According to her family, Davis made a split-second decision to shield a fellow rider from harm, an act they’re calling nothing short of heroic. In doing so, she suffered multiple fractures, facial trauma, and a lacerated liver. She remains hospitalized as she begins a long road to recovery.

Her family is now sharing her story to honor her courage and raise awareness about the risks jockeys face every day on the track.   They have started a GoFundMe page that will help cover medical expenses for Davis.
