Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked a garage fire that broke out Wednesday night on Charing Cross Road.

Firefighters were called to 3932 Charing Cross Road and arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the garage. Crews from the Cheshire Fire Department and the Canandaigua VA Fire Department launched an interior attack and were able to extinguish the flames quickly.

Additional teams searched the home for any signs the fire had spread, but officials confirmed it was contained to the garage. No injuries were reported, and damage to the main residence was avoided.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Cheshire Fire received assistance from the Bristol Fire Department, Canandaigua VA Fire Department, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, and Ontario County Emergency Management Office. While Cheshire crews were engaged on scene, a motor vehicle accident on Routes 5&20 in the Town of Canandaigua was handled by the Bristol Fire Department on Cheshire’s behalf.
