Homes Evacuated in Canandaigua After Workers Strike Gas Line

Residents on North Bloomfield Road in the city of Canandaigua were briefly evacuated from their homes after construction workers struck a gas line.

Firefighters measured high levels of gas near several of the homes and ordered those residences to be evacuated. Working alongside NYSEG crews, firefighters then entered the trench to mitigate all hazards.

Residents were allowed back into their homes after NYSEG secured the gas.
