Gorham Residents Vote Down Highway Superintendent Proposal

Town of Gorham residents voted down a proposal that would have seen the town’s highway superintendent be appointed rather than elected.

Tuesday’s vote was 354 against and 325 in favor.

The Gorham Town Board had sought to make the change in what it said was an effort to better safeguard taxpayers’ dollars and the ability to appoint a superintendent based on professional qualifications is in the best interest of all who use town roads
