What’s the future for the Geneva Recreation Complex?

The ice rink, called “The Cooler,” opened in 1978. The city has hired Beardsley Architects and Engineers to study potential improvements to the rink. Tonight, the public is invited to a presentation on the study. The meeting is tonight from 6 to 7 at the ice rink’s lobby.

Many Hobart and William Smith hockey supporters believe the school needs a better facility, as many other Division 3 teams have newer rinks with updated amenities.

Some city officials have suggested the rink is a drag on city finances and would like the colleges to take it over.

In 2024, HWS paid over $130,000 for ice time.
