Ontario County firefighters battled a garage fire in the town of Canandaigua for almost three hours Sunday morning.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 4965 West Ridge Run just after 2 o’clock and reported everyone had safely evacuated the nearby home. Cheshire firefighters limited the fire to just the garage and damage was said to be extensive. A dog that was previously unaccounted for later ran out of the home as firefighters searched.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Ontario County Emergency Management Office.

The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, Ontario County Emergency Management Office, and the Town of Canandaigua Code Enforcement
