Fire at Sheppard Grain Under Investigation

Emergency crews respond to a fire at Sheppard Grain in Oaks Corners, New York, which is currently under investigation.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of a fire that broke out during the lunch hour at Sheppard Grain in Phelps on Thursday.

Departments from Ontario, Seneca, and Wayne counties sent firefighters and equipment to the fully engulfed structure fire on the southeast side of the Maryland Road property. Due to the firefighters’ quick response, the fire was contained to the structure and no injuries were reported.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the firefighting operation was a collaborative effort by the following fire departments: Oak Corners, Geneva, Lyons, Phelps, Northside, Fairville, Marbletown, Seneca Castle, Junius, Border City, Waterloo, East Palmyra, Varick, Fayette, Canoga, and the Ontario County Fire Coordinator’s Office. Also assisting at the scene were Phelps Ambulance, Finger Lakes Ambulance, and the town of Phelps Highway Department.
