The Alex Eligh Community Center has been awarded $22,500 from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to support youth team sports. The funding, approved by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors through the Wayne County Youth Bureau, will help launch four new programs in spring 2026: Girls Flag Football, Youth Cross Country, Youth Track and Field, and Youth Soccer.

Center Director Braxton Guy said the grant “allows us to launch new opportunities while strengthening existing programs, reaching youth of all interests and backgrounds, and keeping them active and engaged.”

Mayor Jonathan Taylor added, “This grant will have a tremendous impact on our youth, increasing participation and engagement in community programs.”
