The East Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department is one of only eight departments across New York State selected to receive funding through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program.

State Senator Pamela Helming announced the award, which will provide the department with new helmets, gloves, boots, and Nomex hoods to enhance firefighter safety.

Helming said the funding recognizes the critical role volunteer firefighters play in protecting their communities. “Firefighters step up in the most difficult moments, protecting neighbors and saving lives,” she said. “I’m grateful for all who answer the call to serve.”
