Driver Ticketed in Ontario County Hit-and-Run Accident

A local man is facing charges after police say he left the scene of a two-car accident in Farmington that injured the other driver.

Jonathan Volpe of Canandaigua is accused of failing to yield the right of way after turning south on Mertensia Road from the Tops Supermarket and pulling into the path of a southbound car.  Volpe is accused of leaving the scene in his Toyota 4-Runner but was found a short time later and was charged with failure to yield the right of way, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and driving with a suspended registration.

The driver of the car that was struck, 80-year-old Gale Smith of Farmington, was taken to Thompson Hospital for back and back pain
