Driver Injured After Box Truck Overturns in Rushville

An ambulance with flashing blue and red lights speeds by at night, blurred by motion.
An ambulance responds to an emergency at night, its lights blurring with motion.

A Rochester man is listed in stable condition after the empty box truck he was driving in an area of State Route 247 in Rushville that was surrounded by open fields went off the road due to a strong gust of wind.

The truck ended up striking a utility pole and overturning onto its passenger side.  71-year-old Jeffrey Manard told police he was traveling north at a slow speed due to the road conditions and was unable to stop or redirect the truck after getting hit by the wind gust.

Rushville firefighters were able to extricate the driver, who was taken to Strong by Middlesex Ambulance for leg injuries.
