A power outage in Waterloo on Thursday afternoon was caused by a fallen tree limb that damaged part of the local power grid, according to the Waterloo Fire Department.

The incident resulted in damage to electrical equipment, including transformers that leaked mineral oil, a substance used for cooling. Firefighters quickly responded to contain the spill and prevent the oil from entering storm drains and reaching the canal.
